Current Volunteer Opportunities
We greatly appreciate the contribution that each volunteer makes to the youth and the staff at iHuman. Because of the generosity and abilities of many volunteers, our programs have been enriched far beyond what can be provided by our staff alone. To find out what specific opportunities are available, please email the Volunteer Coordinator.
General Volunteers:
Participate in whatever is going on – special events, chores, recreation activity or hanging out! Activities vary throughout the day and are directed by the staff.
Specialized Volunteers:
If you have a skill you’d like to share you can present a workshop to the youth. Examples include Traditional Indigenous knowledge, beatmaking, yoga, personal training, photography, and mathematics. All volunteers act as a positive and professional role model for the youth.
Meetings and Orientations
Volunteer Orientations are scheduled every few months, and are required for all volunteers working on-site or directly with youth. Orientations are booked in the evening, run two and a half hours, and are a great chance to learn about the different programs and philosophy iHuman. Plus, they’re fun a great way to meet fellow volunteers!
Upcoming Volunteer Orientations: March 2015, June 2015, September 2015, and November 2015
Bi-monthly trainings are also held for regular volunteers on a monthly basis as a way to connect with other volunteers, share highlights and challenges, and learn new skills! Although these meetings are not mandatory, we highly encourage all volunteers to attend at least once every four months.
